The 22nd Olympic Winter Games will be held in Sochi, Russia from 7 until 24 of February 2014. More than 2860 athletes from 88 countries will take part in the 15 disciplines of these Winter Games. Sochi was chosen as the host city in 2007 en will be the most expensive Games ever held. The budget surpasses every other Games' from the past. Sochi 2014 are the first Games that are held in Russia since 1980 (Moscow).

During these Olympic Games twelve new disciplines can be watched: Biathlon mixed Relay, Ski Jumping for women, Mixed team Figure Skating, Mixed Luge, Half-Pipe Skiing, Slopestyle Skiing (men and women), Snowboard Slopestyle (men and women) and Snowboard Parallel Slalom (men and women).

Disciplines that use ice like Hockey and Figure Skating are being held close together in several stadiums in the Sochi Olympic Park. Sports that require snow like Cross Country and Free Style Skiing are held just outside Sochi, in the Winter Sports resort of Kransaya Polyana.
